Project: ESR 3.3 Age related macular degeneration
This project is testing whether the developed algorithms for analyzing retinal vasculature can be used for predicting the development age related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases, and the effect of treating age-related macular degeneration with anti-VEGF.
The Department of Ophthalmology, Aarhus University Hospital, has a high flow of patients with retinal vascular diseases (approximately 6000 patients per year), and all patients are registered in a database that allows systematic and large scale access to photographs on the ocular fundus. Photographs from this database will be analysed using the algorithms being developed.
We anticipate that the testing of developed algorithms on clinical material will help define how these algorithms can be transferred to clinical practice.
