IOVS_two_dimensionalThe segmentation module of our fully automated tortuosity estimation system has been improved both in terms of modelling curvilinear structures and learning context filters. Moreover, a novel approach to accelerate convolutional sparse coding filter learning has been developed. This is expected to make filter learning much more discriminative and result in a more robust segmentation module. The tortuosity plane has been proposed as a better tool to quantify and interpret tortuosity (an example of how the tortuosity plane is used to map corneal nerve images in terms of tortuosity is included).
